Sunny Banks, or Solbacken as it is called in Swedish, is our home. This is where Monica and I have lived since 2005. It’s located in the heart of beautiful Sörmland in south-central Sweden, a rural, agricultural area, some hundred kilometres from Stockholm, whether one travels by road or by train from nearby Flen.
Solbacken estate is about two hectares, or, say, four acres in extent, of which perhaps three quarters is mixed woodland, and one quarter garden. Of the garden area, a half is given over to grass, and the rest is more or less equally divided between plants that look nice and plants that are good to eat. Personally, I prefer the latter but Monica has a weak spot for the former.
